Wishing a Calcutta-n in Arizona.

Arizona, half the way round the globe would be the pin point location whose weather is quite different from the tropical climate experienced here in Calcutta. Hence, if I decide to have a step into the land would require me to have a thorough check up for the weather and it's difference. After all, weather and climate is the first thing that an individual eagerly notices out of his/her's window-sill. At present, I am in Calcutta (presently called Kolkata) in India.
While Calcutta is always wet and humid, Arizona is amongst some of the rockiest states amongst all the states present within the US union. Hence, the climate there would be comparatively dry compared to Calcutta.

1) Calcutta is humid through out the year, with the maximum dis-comfort level surmounting during the months of April to September every year. In comparison, Phoenix, a town in AZ, USA has it's moderately tough times between July to September.

2) Calcutta, owing to a distance of 130 kms from the sea shore, has a regular annual rainfall which may reach an average peak of 325-330 mm. The rainy seasons, popularly known as the Monsoons in India spans from June to September. Such an annual "celebration" of nature fails to meet it's mark in the dry lands of AZ. A Phoenix weather report records an annual peak of 25mm during July-August.

3) The heat factor as well as dry conditions in the AZ makes the inhabitants prone to live with frequent supplements of necessary fluid for the body. Rx in medical terms would be salted water along with lime juice. The Vitamin supplements will ensure proper working of the enzymes in temperatures that may hover around 40-48 degrees Celsius. The data has correllation with Phoenix, AZ. A native from Calcutta will surely find it homely as in Calcutta too, the temperature hovers around the 38-42 mark throughout the summer seasons.

Since we know, amongst the seven natural wonders, arizona holds US's treasure in the form of the Grand Canyon and the wild rocky country-scape, a visit to the state would necessarily mean an extra precaution of getting the basics right. Comapring to places having climates like that in Calcutta, it will be a fair deal to visit the state in the months of Nov to Feb, as the temperate plummet to the 38 degree Celsius mark.

The datas can be corellated with BBC weather Report.

Reminescence.

November 2005, was something different. Three years down the line, a lot has changed. The stature as well as the status of those who were once on the train together, heading for Andhra Pradesh. The tour started in an ebullinece of shear brilliance of joy and feel good. It was winter in the air, starting from Howrah station. The 0655hrs Falaknama felt so blessed, so auspicious, bringing in the thoughts of another 5 years back, when in Standard X, I bode my school party to enjoy a 9 days extended tour to North Bengal. Things happened so fast... so "rough". To give it a thought, I found myself at the periphery of all the matters, gelling the various people well and various points of time.
September 2000 and November 2005 resulted in the zeal to move out, the Dil Chahta Hain style, which had taken place on three instances through out the post graduation days in February 2007, August 2007 and then the biggie in January 2008, going to Digha ( 2days), Diamond Harbour ( 1day) and then to GhatShila (4days). Looking forward to another outing in January/February 2009. Out of all the experiences, of which my personal favourite is the sea, I can bet that the hills and the vales are best places to go towards the end of winter, and that too on a full moon.
Its a good idea to ponder over those travel experiences, infact re-state somethings, in a new labelled section called Tour Diaries. The articles can also be obtained in the Travel labels... Look out... for some short get aways...

getting past the trench.

It was tough as it stinked all the way. Today at the end of Second Semester examination, some how I am feeling really not in the mood to have enjoyment and things have not fallen into places as it always did after each and every examinations, since Class IX, way back in 1999.

The days have been going past like a big bore, and the trench seems really slippery and jagged. with the hope that in August we all might be going out to some place, be it the school cool gang, or may be the recent Hot University people!

after Digha, it might be Ranchi Netarhat. but it all depends on the progress made by the people in their summer work! to finish with this Hope I would like to end this post with some pictures of Netarhat, taken courtesy Google! am longing to see thru to the place!

Talking of the place, once in standard 6/7, I have read one of the most proficient Bengali writer, Bibhutibhushan Bandhyapadhai's Palamau-r Jangal-e. That small description of Palamau, the chilly weather around in the jungle still thrills me like hell! or may be heaven...I may beg pardon!

That description by the great, where he described jungle's night beauty as more elegant than a simply half nude Miss World, still enthrills me with the sense of adventure and surprises to know the unknown!
