The Lost Umbilical

There was a time, when people used to believe in a child, born out with a connection with his or her mother. A connection that has 108 vessels, severed after being nourished for the first 10 months of the individual's existence on this planet, cozy within the cocoon of motherly nest, called the womb. They still do now, not that WiFi and Wireless is effecting the umbilical cord. But, now some of those brainchild, come up with brilliant ideas of reconnecting with that womb of other mothers or would be mothers, not with flesh, but with iron rods!!! They do it, after the inhuman exhibition of strength of their own desire upon a lady who don't want their touch! They touch her, thinking of some iPhone and then, they nail her thinking that Jesus is still not looking! I don't care if Jesus is sleeping or not. What I care is that these cruel, inhuman, senseless animals should be brought to justice.

Yes, I am talking of the incident that took a few days back in New Delhi, with a paramedical girl was raped in a running bus, when the bus was swaying through the populated areas of the Indian Capital.I am talking for justice to be shown to those uncountable uncouth, who had played the game of finding a place to insert their dysfunctioned cables. They know, because of that, they won't get a girl, so how about getting together and force them in. They don't find a place, for they never are fertile, nor strong and totally Klienfelter!!!

I chose today: 21/12/12. Nostradarmis, Mayans and many more predicted this to be the last day of the world. They were true! The way humans are getting, they are killing each other, killing the name of being human, but still you find a Johnny Walker run down the street with a black T-shirt on and written on it: Being Human. Joke!

The Government should realize that this is serious. If you all can't give any justice, then catch them and throw them to us. We know what to do! Infact, facebook and texts are flowing in with various ideas, mostly directed towards the dysfunct cables of the guilty. But if asked my opinion, the best punishment would be to have a Mob attck on them! A mob has the face of humans, and just like the wasps being attacked by drones in the hive, we have to take that stance! I believe, that is the punishment by the humans, for the creatures, out of this world!

Looking forward for such Indian Penal Code to be formulated or else, the Indians will target the "Pee"-nal (Hindi) and that day is not far away!

প্রক্রিতির পথে : In Nature's Trail- Part 1

My face book profile will enlist the experience as "Chronicles of an Unkempt Traveler" and its more than a month old. One of the most acclaimed album hitting near 50 likes and hundreds of comments from far and wide, which had made me pleased that at last I have justified my talent.

Creativity is Man's ultimate independence, where every stroke of paint or words has its own meaning too his own satisfaction. And if it is understood by many others, you become the author or a painter, artist or film-maker. I have names galore to fill up the respective positions, but I know there are several others who have already done this.

I would simply like to place the beauty of Bengal in front of the cyber world, so that unlike the freedom to visit the mountains from other Metroes in India, Kolkata dweller can make an extended week end count, without cutting his or her salary or facing the sweet sweet music!

Every year, Jesus brings us a GOOD FRIDAY. Make it official or not, you deem to have a holiday. 2012, was an instance where I ensured such  holiday along with 17 other members, many from IICB to come into the celebration of life, called TRIP to Gorumara, North Bengal.

Since, it was a week end trip, we had an initial plan to visit the mountains. In fact, the plan was changed 12 times, before we came down to Gorumara. But we had our destination tickets purchased to NJP (New Jalpaiguri), although for Gorumara, its advised to get down at Alipur Duar.

But, if you want to start enjoying the nature from the inception of your footsteps on the ground, get down at NJP. The sight and sound of Teesta aand Murti made fabulous green trail that lead to Gorumara after a 2 hour drive.

Gorumara is one of the reserve forests falling withing the Jaldapara-Buxar forest belt in Dooars. Amidst the foothills of the lower Eastern Himalayas, the place is cool because of the mountains and also the dense flora of the Reserve Forest.

Several watch towers are connected with this place like the Gorumara Watch Tower itself along with Chapramari. But we chose the Gorumara Salt Pit tower and believe me, we watched all the available animals in the Dooars, except tigers. Peacocks were like hens from the poultry, running here and there. Had never witnessed a peacock fly; witnessed it here. Bisons, Rhinos and Elephants topped the chart. The jungle safari continued in broad day light, although we faced rain every day of our stay.

The most memorable was the night, of the day before we were to leave back for Kolkata. We had the plan to take the first car (Gypsy), to the Gorumara Tower. Its acclaimed and gurantees to show the most. We were lucky to see them, as mentioned earlier. But, what I will take from this place apart from good memories was one experience. It was 3AM and we planned to stand in the queue to purchase the first 18 tickets of the limited 20 tickets. We were to wait in turn, since we were intoxicated with VAT 69. I was siting nearby, the counter and behind me was dark jungle. It was fenced and it was just an arm away. Just then Subhadeep and Promit, who were standing initially went to call the next in turn to stand with me. Our lodge was just a few steps away.

Suddenly, I heard some tramples of the fallen leaves.  A run. I turned back, towards the barbed fence; saw nothing. Then I could clearly heard the sound of the herd of elephants! It just shivered a cold sweat down my spine as it was really "awesome" to hear amidst the unknown darkness.

This was taken with the IR mode on!

Gorumara helped in unraveling several secrets from known and unknown people. It also helped in identifying many. Here is our Group Photo....

It was fabulous!

The Bengali Link....

Uploaded, Scratched and Devasted.....

Bengal and Bengalis have their ever onward link with football. Come May, June or July or may be the cold Jans and Febs, Bengalis have always loved the game, that the English preached the world. Its a famous quote that the English preached the beautiful game of football, the world over and the Brazilians made it their own. But folk lores have always proved it a point, that there is one more nationality, that have owned this beautiful game, smearing emotions, tears, love, smiles, pain and almost all the basic human traits....even death!

The culture of football in Bengal started way back in 1867, when the first ever match was being played. In 1889, the first ever Soccer club was established, bearing the name Mohun Bagan. Today, it is one of India's premier clubs... Incidentally, Mohun Bagan is Asia's oldest soccer club. Its first achievement came in 1911, being the first Indian club to defeat a British team in the prestigious IFA Shield Finals, winning the trophy. Their counterparts were The East Yorkshire Regiment. They were beaten by MB with 2-1 margin. It was a part of Bengal Rennaissance, that inspired Indians. In a megazine called Manosi, this winner by a pre-independent Indian team had sent our wripples, announcing June 29, 1911 as the freedom for Bengal (as well as Indian) football. Mr. Shibdas Bhadhuri led the team against the foreigners. Its was also reported, that kites flew till dusk, that day to celebrate the victory. This is symbolic with Indian independence, as kites flew on 15th August 1947 as well....

Bengal, post independence was divided into Bangladesh and West Bengal.... the soccer fraternity too were divided within West Bengal as East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. Relatively new, East Bengal is the sole compititor of Mohun Bagan and when its a derby between the two, the emotions run as high as a Brazilian Argentine match or even India Pakistan cricket match... to commemorate that, August 1984 saw the demise of 19 spectators when brawl broke between the two sects of supporters at Eden Gardens, over the Calcutta Football league...

Football has played an important role, making it beautiful to life and many times a Chivalrous date...

Many unsolved deals were settled by a game of soccer. I can cite one:
I had studied in Calcutta Boys' School. There was always a supressed tension between the two sections of same standard, regarding quality of results and students.... By sections I mean, division within the same standard. In standard 8, the tension reached the maximum. I don't even vivid remember the reason, but the issue became so prestigious, that 30 students of 8B faced 27 students of 8A (my section) in a soccer match, during the lunch recess... The match turned into a fight, after section B won by 2-1, but the fight began even before the game ended...!

Emotions run high for passion.... when it comes to Argentina and Brazil. The city is again divided into two....
2010, both departed in the Quarters. The city has its own fan following for the Germans, because Bengalis have a close knit relation with the Germans, coz of Netaji and many stories... Few years back, Oliver Kahn, the great German Goalie, signed off his career playing his last match at Yuva Bharati... for Bayern Munich. Also, Maradona paid his visit, mentioning Kolkata as his newest second home...feeling the warmth. Even Pele, played for Cosmos, against the forebearers of Indian Football, Mohun Bagan, 1977.

But again, the glaze and glamour has tarnished a bit, due to exit of Brazilians and Argentines....

The Green Eye Wash

People will be rightfully calling me a hypocrit, since two posts ago, I mentioned that I would be letting a little less of politics into this blog...but again skipping one post is equivalent to that little I guess... (haha)

With Municipal Corporation election results to be disclosed, today, in the morning...I came across sections of people, in the various nooks and corners of the city on my way to the lab, having various opinions. One common agenda, on everyone's lips is: TMC and INC shouldn't have parted... The topic and its pitfalls was also prevalent in the lab, when I was explaining my opinion and thanks to the active participation in Politics at Presidency College, Calcutta, I have certain clear ideas.

It is prominent that after this election is over, the TMC and INC will be re-mending the allies, that is still un-touched at the Center, with Mamata Banerjee being a Cabinet Minister. The Green Wash that TMC and INC ployed by breaking the allies at the grass root level has a bigger motif into play, for this had been the best bond of opposition in the last 34 years against the Communist Rule in West Bengal.

The Motif:
In 2006, when the revolution for land started creeping up in Singur, with TMC still as in the opposition tent, against All India National Congress at the Union, it was Mamata who led the resistance against the faulty State policies by the Leftist WB government. In 2007-08, the Panchyat Election made it clear that TMC is winning masses. More than 80% of Left Strong hold was lost, after the Singur and Nandigram episode.
In 2007-08, Congress understood the potential of the present anarchism in Bengal and joined hands with TMC, They supported TMC in all the Panchyat and Zila Parishads and in 2009, came in hand with the TMC sweeping the WB seat counts of the Union Parliament, slapping the Leftists a shocking 78.4% seats compared to the preceeding election.
In 2010, the time for those grass root election came upfront. According to the Trimeric Legislation, the Municipal Corporations are equivalent to the Panchyats! In 2007, it was TMC who fared well. One of the main target by the TMC and the INC is to usurp the throne of West Bengal that was for so long occupied by the Leftists! That result is due in 2011. Taking of the Grass Root, TMC as well as INC knows, where they are strong. Union Parliament Election is based on a wider area. To understand the support base with a larger resolution, one must know the base in each root... for which would help the TMC and Congress decide on the seat distribution for the elections of 2011, the mega event! After all, the 81 Municipalities that went for election last Sunday, 30/5/10, makes up around 100 Legislative assembly seats! Kolkata, itself has 16-17 seats for the Bidhan Sabha.

The ploy was simple and clever! A monitor of the results, to be published fully in another 24 hours, would indicate the place for Congress base and TMC support. Even if they lose, when together, they would combat any forces by the CPI-M!!!

The Wet Edge.

Its a long spell of torrential rain that have been soaking Kolkata, India for the past 24 hours. The spell, caused by an excessive depression over the South Gangetic Bengal, has carried along till date. Looking ahead, one with a mentality like me is naturally induced to write down a post with such a boring heading, WET EDGE!!! Come on...no PINK feeling around!!!

With just three weeks left for the inception of Pujas 2009, the grand festival for a Bengali, a rain can be as sharp an indent like a blade, cutting through the hopes of fun with loved ones, family and friends, to the shredding filaments!

The thought came to mind, while I was strolling across the corridor, talking over the phone. There was a sharp shound of electric shock waves, followed by a huge bang! A thunder must have shoved past us whose shrill stringed noise made me stuch with awe! Then the person across the phone sa
id, "If this continues, then Pujas are a gonner..."

Its very interesting to note the human mind. A few weeks ago, dus to excessive heat wave, everyone eagerly desired for the rain, but now they curse. First of all, the Pujas are untimely this year round, being ahead by almost half a
month. Secondly, the Aila had delayed the rains, which is now showering with all it's might, to fulfill our two weeks old wish to have a torrent!

Anyways, thinking of such a dicy situation, did make me soak in grim mood, as I expect the Pujas to be bright and with lots of grandeur, fir each and everyone! Tip
Tap.... the drops kissed the wash-basin and the thunder kept plying across the skies over Kolkata!!!

The Bengal Conspiracy.

West Bengal, India. Once designated as the most hassle-less state of the country, having the greatest intellects in the nation, is now facing one of the largest conspiracy of recent world affairs.

Lalgar in West Bengal stands a testimony to the troubled state under the regime of long established government and the protest of the in-flexible opposition. The inflexibility has gained in momentum, after a sumptuous win in the recently concluded Union Election, where for the first time had the state run power, the CPM faced such a down fall in the past 32 years. Those are common stories, that can be met on within my blog in the March-May editions.

This time the situation is grim. With Mr. Chatradhar Mahato leading the Anti-police/ authority regime in Lalgarh and parts of Jhargram in Medinipur, the Naxalites, declared banned organisation in various states (except West Bengal) have gained in momemtum in a fight against the state run government. With the Naxalites or Maoists as called commonly, Bengal witnesses a big conspiracy in her heartland!

There are numberof thoughts on this, and the ones that I have heard is what I would like to say.

Thought School #1:
A few days was talking with one of my friend over the matter. She was narrating incidents and thought that she had developed after gaining some momentous ideas from her relatives, mainly uncle, her dad!
In 1970s, it was this CPM (the present rulers of WB), used certain policies:
-> Making Bengal's Industries limp by infusing Trade Union amongst workers to safe guard their security of work. In 32 years, the industries have shut down, having an account of more than 40,000 industries shut down. [Even more than the number of Human Genes till date]
-> Used the Maoists or Naxalites to up throw the then Congress Regime under Siddhartha Shankar Ray. Those horrendous days of late 70's are now reflected in Lalgarh!

Today TMC is said to uptake a similar policy to be beside the general farmers and this resulted historic Singur and Nandigram episodes. Now, its Lalgarh! Beliefs are that, they might be supporting the maoists for the anarchism!

Thought School #2:

Mr. Kishan Gajhi, the Maoist leader has told that they have been associated with the TMC in Nadigram! He expected support from Mamata Banerjee's TMC. Listening to the telephonic conversation picked up in one of the Bengali Private News Channel, it seems that this might be a ploy by the CPM itself, to puncture the sails of the yatch of the TMC alliance that had been gaining momentum for the past three years!

This gains evidence because in their presence in the Mao Territory of Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa, Bengal and Chattisgarh, except West Bengal, all other states have declared that Maoists are a banned organisation! The West Bengal governemnt say, in their 32 years of regime, i(n which they did a number of people and police officials being dead in Mao Territory) are thinking of banning them! They are still THINKING!!!

The conspiracy runs deep. If taken my personal view, the faith in INA is always there, as they will do their job perfectly. The problem is, the conspiracy is tarnishing the Bengal Brigade infront of the World. In my office, last day, I had to answer my US client and explain the situation in Bengal, at the moment. They are interested to know about a "civil war"! Feels bad! Really Bad!!!

Bengali New Year: Poila Boishak.

I wonder how it would have been in 1912, when the day before the Bengali New Year, the then biggest ocean liner..the "invincible" Titanic kissed the bottom of the Atlantic? It was some 97 years ago, and my wonder is nothing but a vague idea to start off with. But one thing I can account for in that year, from my Great Grand Father's notebook, Mr. Satyanarayan Paul wrote:

15th April, 1912
: (Bengali) Aaj 1319, Bangla Naba Barsha. Kintu kal jahajdubi-r por ajker din ta fyakashe... Today, 1319, Bengali New Year. But after what happened yesterday, as per the news,a ship-wreck the day's celebration seems very blunt and faded!

Bengali New Year. In colloqial its being termed as Poila Baisak. The first month being Baisak, as according to the Bengali Calender. According to the Gregorian Calender, it falls in either 14th or 15th of April each year. The Bengali calender was devised earnestly because of various practices that were once upon a time practiced in the subcontinent. Having a diverse religious influence in it's culture and tradition, there was existence of Hijri Calender, which was based on the Lunar Cycle. The Gregorian Calender was based on a solar cycle. Since the various land taxes and agricultural taxes were taken based on the Hijri calender by the Islamic rulers, there was difficulty in following the cultivation taxes as per the Lunar Months. Hence, as known in History, Fatehullah Shirazi, a renowned astronomer and scholar deviced a Bengali Calender that was an amalgamation of the Solar Calender Year as well as the Hijri Calender. It started with the month of Baisak as according to the Surya Sidhanta, the Hindu Solar Calender with Chaitra being the last month. The period of one year which started on an average between 14/15 April (Gregorian Calender) came to be called as Bangabda (A Bengali Year span).

This time around (15/4/09) the Bengali New Year, celebrated across Bengal (undivided) as the Year 1416.
