The Monkey Business

Today, 5th July, 2010, was supposedly a pre-planned ReUnion day of S5, a plan foiled by Bandh, followed nation wide (except Tripura). The cause of the strike is to send a notice to the UPA government at the Center against the price hike of petrol based products and subsequently the price hike in all commodities. The monkey business is tht, even a few allies of the UPA have also supported the strike, proposed by the opposition at the union parliament.

Everyone knows the strike will be successful. Today, while watching the evening News, I came up with the view expressed by Prakash Karat that the Bandh was a success. it surely was, as not a single vehicle was seen plying! But the funny part is, on my own survey, the people opted to stay home (or some have fled to a nearby tourist spot from Saturday), beacuse, June and July themselves are Dry Months regarding extra holidays and, this year, the legitimate holidays, 75% of them are on either Saturdays and worst on Sundays!!! But the politicians believe that its a resounding slap by the mass against government policies!!

For once, the funny advertisement produced by Alpenliebe, a premier candy brand, where we have a role reversal between Monkeys and Humans (represented by the great actress Kajol); the Ad seems true as the mass for change has made the political leaders fool.... Want to see the AD:

Twenty 20.

The last post kissed the gallows here at my blog was some 20 days ago. It was about a second, now I will be talking of 20 x 24 x 60 x 60 seconds to be approximate, 1728000 seconds to be more precise!

Recently I have been harvesting an idea which have been successfully post in Orkut: If pressure seems more than U can handle... U should understand, it's time to sharpen ur nails!!! The things are too alike to be false!

In these few days, my Boss had made his sucessful business trip to Europe. At office certain tensions crept in which coincided with my health matters! The air was too foul with the political hakuna matatas... The opposition being beaten up in Mangalkot, West Bengal. That followed by a very common picture, a Bandh, called by the Indian National Congress, West Bengal Chapter. This was supported by TMC, the major political wing and I slept at home, trying to come to terms with my ailing body!

[Pic: At Park Street Metro Station, Somnath Paul]

A transport strike followed, overseeing the non-co-opertaion by the transport unions in Kolkata, over the Government policies to turn Kolkata into an eco-friendly Metro! All other metroes in India are so, Kolkata still waits!

To top up with some cherry in the cream, the record breaking 6.78 lakh strong TMC rally into the heart of Kolkata, made all the sensation with Miss Banerjee pledging this congregation to be the "last nail in the Red Coffin!"

The TMC Meeting sketched by Somnath Paul (c) somnath.paul@hotmail.com

A lot of things happened in the society, but I stood where I started from. New policies, new ideas have fed my mind time and again, but something in life was missing. A happening in life goes blank! All the way! I guess coming August and September brings in some good news, for my mom and myself to enjoy, not mention some very close friend's name and all the more my closest pal's name!! [Top Secret!!!] Ha Ha Ha....

And a part of that Rally:

The Bengal Conspiracy.

West Bengal, India. Once designated as the most hassle-less state of the country, having the greatest intellects in the nation, is now facing one of the largest conspiracy of recent world affairs.

Lalgar in West Bengal stands a testimony to the troubled state under the regime of long established government and the protest of the in-flexible opposition. The inflexibility has gained in momentum, after a sumptuous win in the recently concluded Union Election, where for the first time had the state run power, the CPM faced such a down fall in the past 32 years. Those are common stories, that can be met on within my blog in the March-May editions.

This time the situation is grim. With Mr. Chatradhar Mahato leading the Anti-police/ authority regime in Lalgarh and parts of Jhargram in Medinipur, the Naxalites, declared banned organisation in various states (except West Bengal) have gained in momemtum in a fight against the state run government. With the Naxalites or Maoists as called commonly, Bengal witnesses a big conspiracy in her heartland!

There are numberof thoughts on this, and the ones that I have heard is what I would like to say.

Thought School #1:
A few days was talking with one of my friend over the matter. She was narrating incidents and thought that she had developed after gaining some momentous ideas from her relatives, mainly uncle, her dad!
In 1970s, it was this CPM (the present rulers of WB), used certain policies:
-> Making Bengal's Industries limp by infusing Trade Union amongst workers to safe guard their security of work. In 32 years, the industries have shut down, having an account of more than 40,000 industries shut down. [Even more than the number of Human Genes till date]
-> Used the Maoists or Naxalites to up throw the then Congress Regime under Siddhartha Shankar Ray. Those horrendous days of late 70's are now reflected in Lalgarh!

Today TMC is said to uptake a similar policy to be beside the general farmers and this resulted historic Singur and Nandigram episodes. Now, its Lalgarh! Beliefs are that, they might be supporting the maoists for the anarchism!

Thought School #2:

Mr. Kishan Gajhi, the Maoist leader has told that they have been associated with the TMC in Nadigram! He expected support from Mamata Banerjee's TMC. Listening to the telephonic conversation picked up in one of the Bengali Private News Channel, it seems that this might be a ploy by the CPM itself, to puncture the sails of the yatch of the TMC alliance that had been gaining momentum for the past three years!

This gains evidence because in their presence in the Mao Territory of Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa, Bengal and Chattisgarh, except West Bengal, all other states have declared that Maoists are a banned organisation! The West Bengal governemnt say, in their 32 years of regime, i(n which they did a number of people and police officials being dead in Mao Territory) are thinking of banning them! They are still THINKING!!!

The conspiracy runs deep. If taken my personal view, the faith in INA is always there, as they will do their job perfectly. The problem is, the conspiracy is tarnishing the Bengal Brigade infront of the World. In my office, last day, I had to answer my US client and explain the situation in Bengal, at the moment. They are interested to know about a "civil war"! Feels bad! Really Bad!!!

The Bengal Masala

UPA (Congress +)
14 (50%)
NDA (BJP+)
8 (28%)
Third Front (CPI-M +)
2 (7%)
No Opinion, Will not vote!
4 (14%)

Votes so far: 28
Poll conducted for 40 days and concluded on 14th May, 2009 (IST)

16th May, 2009:
After a near tiring day the office, writing some article on Petroleum Coke, I would naturally feel reluctant to write another one. But is important. This is Big!

The above statistics was conducted as a general poll, in my blog where the readers paid some attention about how the picture would be regarding the election fiasco of the Parliament 2009. It might not reflect the opinion of the whole nation, but is close as to what the mandate stands for Parliament 2009.

UPA having 256 seats. The UPA alliance has the Major as in Indian National Congress, along with the Samajvadi Party, All India Trinamool Congress and others.
NDA have 151 seats. The NDA alliance has the Major as in Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United) and others.
The third front posses the Left Front and the Bju Janata Dal and some more. The Leftists as of now has 79 seats.
The rest well, are the Rest.

That is the national scenario and with an un-imaginable victory by the congress and their alliance, West Bengal comes upfront on the national dias with something that can only be imagined, but true. But it is True.

It is always said that an immense power, if gets rotten, declines slowly and steadily. The Left Front namely, the CPI(M), CPI, FB, RSP have been in WB for over 32 years (now). Their atrocities came forward with the idea of dictatorship over the poor farmers in Singur and the malice mass killing in Nandigram. Their tryst of Industrialization met the dead end, falling face first, infront of the already existing 50, 743+ factories (large and small) shut down for the past 30 years!
They faced their phantom ghost, from the oppositions, namely Trinamool Congress and the Congress. Never ever in their 32 years of history, except in 1984 had the state experienced LF having just 15 seats (a loss of 20 seats) and the TMC (19)+ Congress (6)+ SUCI (1) have gained upon 20 seats from the last election! NEVER!!!

The reasons:

1) After the State Legislature election where LF had wiped over 80% of the seat, their idea of being the lone master in the WB-State Politics came up-front! They called upon TATA for their Nano Car Manufacturing plant and without asking the TMC/Congress i.e the Opposition and the local residents, decided upon Singur to be the site for the plant. Came in Mamata Banerjee and the struggle for survival started. This was in Dec 2006- Jan 2007.
[Why should a farmer leave the land that yielded him good crop would sell the land, and hope for work which seemed vague. Even trying out something else, thanks to the CPM, West Bengal lacked the Industrial ambience since late 70's]

2) Nandigram massacre. Quite comparable to the Jalianwala Bagh massacre, pressed the nail hard the CPM-Coffin! The revolt by the TMC and helped in by INC fueled the fact that dictatorship by CPM goons was not tolerated!

3) An isolated, yet very prominent case of Rizwanur Rehman shook the civilzed society where riuch hoodlums in association with huge officials of the police, murdered a young man who supposedly was poor and married a girl of a rich, well to do family! The government did nothing but transfer the officials. Grave!

The Results:

* Huge losses incurred in the Panchyat and Zilla Parishad Elections by the Left Front with TMC gaining on the whole. An increase in seat share by 40%, in the year 2008.
* Un-imaginable loss in the Parliament Election, 2009. Last time Congress had 5 seats, TMC 1 and rest was under Left Front. This time round, after 5 years, with Nandigram and Singur, TMC snatched 19 seats, INC 6 seats and associate SUCI 1 seat!

Congrats to UPA for getting a chance to set fort newer changes, and complete certain jobs left incomplete. But request Sir/ Madam, please curb this SC/ST discrimination!

Third Time.

Sounds have been in the air. The Indian Parliamentary Demography would be in shatters after the May 16th polling results come out, with no party attaining the sole majority. To form a government, any party or ally would have to attain the 272 candidate mark! With too many parties at bay and few nationalized party at work, the picture is getting tougher day by day. With Congress and the UPA, BJP and the NDA, Left Front creating a new Third Front and some nucleated Fourth Front candidate, the area of Indian Union seems too small to get segregated! With so many fronts around, I proudly disclose that I have voted for the Third Time, since I received my the Right to Elect!
With the largest democracy in the World, drawing curtains for the public polling on May 13th, 2009, with my city and constituency being part of the fifth and the final phase electoral region, the water was never murky than ever. From a common man's perspective, a number of thoughts work:
1) Why would "I" vote? What can one vote make or break? An argument that I have already discussed two post back!
2) There are so many political parties and their representatives? Who would mean for the nation? For the past 60 years, things have never brightened on the catalog of promises. Very few have ever registered a promised in the catalog of "fulfilled". Now it seems that they keep certain local problems at bay, just to contest the next election!
3) The politicians are best fighting a verbal war with the most noxious weapons possible. Leaders, who are supposedly trend setters can use verbals which even we feel better is being left alone! What for? They don't have anything else to say!
4) "A Change, that We all Believe in". Not too old a phrase. The portfolio campaign organized by Mr. Barrack Obama, The President of United States of America.

The youths, like us should now put the figures ahead than the party. For that they need to vote. If you feel that all politicians are same, then vote an Independent candiadte. But please Vote! May the political party will win, whom you haven't vote, but the first year they would get an idea, that their winning margin have decreased and the independent's margin have increased! If they feel energetic, they will work. You will be benifited by voting, so what if it's an Independent. Everything has it's brighter side. Cash on them!

I Voted! Not for me, but for You. I know there are over a million votes which have been for me, if "I voted for You!" I dont need any more! Keep Smiling, and hope to be a part of a system that creates a stable governement for the coming 5 years! (See you nationally in 2014, with the same topic).

A Message To all Indians:: Time to Think.

It is very easy to shout against the leaders, who have resulted the death of hundreds of soldiers cross border or in our heartland, in Mumbai. If you feel for those warrior's blood, then why not save them from the whims of the men at the top, but choosing the WHIMLESS... It is you, who pointed the finger to Mr. Achutanandan! Finding the name familiar. It is that same CM who soured our thoughts by calling a Martyr's death worthy of a dog's sacrifice!!! You did burst out then, what happened now?

When Kolkata Votes, I will Vote on 13/5/09.
When your locality Votes, answer the call... Justify those thousands of bullets, where names of many Brigadiers, Captains, Subedars, Sepoys lie carved in blood.
Answer yourself... Are You doing it right by sitting back?
Answer by looking into your mother's eyes... are you doing her Justice, when thousands like her lose people like you because of faulty leadership?
If you think what will your one vote do...then re think again! Drop by Drop, water adds to make the Ganges...similarly, if 40,000 people think like you are doing individually, it is taking 40,000 votes out of the system. A close election where 20,000 mattered, might not have mattered, if like 40,000 others had voted!!!

Please my fellow mates..come up with this one chance. The next two election dates, make it 90% Votes...if not 100%. My words are limited to the cyber world to people whom I don't know. But if you can feel my wish and my feelings, then spread it to people who are out of the reach of this article!!!

One might think why am I writing so. I am a common Indian like you. I dream like you. On certain aspects I think like you, other times differently. I am making you think differently.

Shoeee-D!

Not a Fly!!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

No No, Its not a Dog even!!!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO??!!!

Its the Politicians, who faces smells the "Sweet" Smell of Leather. Sometimes Nike, sometimes Woodlands and sometimes the Indian Made Rubber Back hawai chappal (Sandal). After the Iraqi Journalist showed the way, Indians have used it more often within the last one month, spanking the "good for nothing" Politicians, with their foot gear!

#1) Mr. P. Chidambaram [Congress]. The Home Minister had to duck to a Number 7 boot of Mr. Jarnail Singh, the Dainik Jagaran Reporter for spanking a shoe at him when he was shoving off the Tytler issue regarding the Sikh Issue. The report found it's place in my blog. Click here for details. P.C gave his smile and generously asked him to leave.

#2) Mr. N. Jindal [Congress]. In our times we have had our share from our school teachers several times. Back then it was never an issue. Now when Mr. Jindal got spanked by the an elderly school master at a village during a road show, it became a Nation Row! He got the treatment from Ram Kumar, a retd school teacher when the MP was on his election campaign from his constituency in Kurukshetra.

#3) Mr. L.K. Advani [BJP]. Two Congresmen down, no Bhajpa? How can this be, with the single largest oppostion party being spared? The target, BJP supremo and Prime Minsiterial candidate, Mr. L. K. Advani! He was made to chuck a sandal from his own party workers, who were against him regarding certain issues in the region!

#4) Dr. M. Singh [Congress]. The Hon' Prime Minister of India, was attacked with a shoe. The projectile missed it's mark by 50 feet. Mr. Singh was attacked by an angry student from Ahemdabad. The offender's name is Hitesh Chauhan who had grudges against M. Singh and the UPa regarding the student and educational policies of the government. One can understand the Arjun Singh implemented reservation quota, that once rocked the national Universities through out the country. (one of the Flaws by the Manmohan Singh led government.)

Protest by this mean is only Filmy and shouldn't be approved by any civilzed society. One's bitten twice Shy. This thing, for Cheap Publicity is becoming popular if considered that way. Even if the citizen's or the concept of Common Man waking up is coming true, still, Vote out a governemant that is of no use..but dont hurl these projectiles.

The Gen-Y Leaders.

It never happens again that Mr. Sharma wakes up one fine morning to see that his newly painted Jade Ruby paint has received a white tinge. On closer observation, he never lacked the insight of finding out that it was not his Gillette shaving foam that might have been notoriously sprayed onto the walls by his six year old son. It was done more meekly by a group of "nightlings" (better say certain Ugly Ducklings) who have had their work done for the betterment of the society at the expense of the beauty of the locality! They are the Party Men, who feel merry at defacing the walls of the people with "lime frescoes" begging the people to vote for Mr. XYZ!!!

Now, this never happens now. With a tough call by the Election Commission of India, whereby they have recently sent an ultimatum to all the political parties that such display without proper permission from the premise owner, would be wiped off with proper amendments and the bills would be forwarded to the parties who will have to pay back for their deeds!

Certain innovative news also prop up. In one locality near New Alipore, Kolkata, few housewives initiated a motion: "Deface our walls and you lose our Votes". The walls have not been defaced yet, even after one and a half month of declaration of candidates! People's might ultimately rules!

Hence what to do?
With one IPL already at its pinnacle in South Africa, the other IPL (Indian Political League) must need the proper publicity! I guess Mr. Vani nor Mrs. Narnia Mandhi would like to sing and swing SRK did with the KKR video for IPL2. Hence they have a much sober approach. Telivision now plays the election motifs and manifestoes and slogans of various political parties, awaring the people and fooling in certain sections about the Yes and the No against each other!
Every team has it's eye on the chair. Infact there are many players for the Chair!

Dr. M. Singh: Congress Dhamakedars. (CD)
Mr. L.K. Advani: Bhajpa Jay Jaykars. (BJJ)
Mayavati: Bahujan Blasters. (BB)
P. Karat: Comrade Mili Jhuli Sabji. (CMJS)
S. Powar: Mumbai Mere Jaan. (MMJ)

and many more.... (brown horses,as they prefer to wear khaki during the polling season!)

Websites, Road Shows, with Flex Vinyls being the latest addendum to their tools to publicise as to who is the best meat! The irony? There can be only one Best, and two or more Better! And that leads India into another General Election for the Lok Sabha, 2009!

Winds of Change.

May be it's too early to comment. But looking at certain trends, it can well be put in that compared to last time, this time Trinamool Congress would be harvesting a much better yield. In 2004 election, after the communal tainted BJP (thanks to Ram Mandir, Ayodhya in 1993 and the Godhra Massacre in 2002, TMC could yield only 1 seat out of the 42 contested. With an alliance with BJP and a rift with Congress, the votes got distributed, making CPI-M victorious in various strongholds of TMC and Congress!
The breaking news at the moment is, Forward Bloc candidate for the election has taken one hand in revealing that it was CPI-M and more so, Chief Minister, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharya had ordered the police firing in 2007 over the protesting public mob at Nandigram. The massacre witnessed a massive uprising against the government with the public unrest against the state leadership and executive machinery. Forward Bloc is an associate of the Left Front, that had been ruling the state for past 32 years, a history in it's own accord, have revolted in the past regarding the Nandigram Issue. Click here for Report. The wounds and the blisters are fresh, and it was well utilized in the Panchyat elections of West bengal in 2008 by TMC and Congress that did show the rift in CPI-M votes, letting CPI-M lost 45% ground comapred to the 2003 Panchyat Election. TMC gained a whoping 57% in case of votes casted and the rest was gained by Congress!
The propositions:
1) On behalf of TMC and Congress : The 32 years of ruling by the Leftists had rendered them the feeling of being invincible. A complacency crept in their approach. Their "good" deeds has taken their shape from their hedonism. The Singur Car Factory of the Tatas, found it's ground upon the tears of many unwilling farmers. The government implemented laws to take the land for the factory. An attempt to improve industrial Bengal, which they had once strangulated by their regular strikes and worker Unions! Today, Bengal has 37, 219 factories (large and small scale) being closed. Darjeeling has hundreds of tea gardens where the spiders work day and night! A factory in Singur justifies those that are already dead! If you want to justify, please justify with justice behind your proposal and not the marinated and influenced amendments to do the needful for you! The Laxman Seth's (CPI-M) ultimatum regarding aquisition of land, without taking the consent of those whose land would be taken! The uprising of the poor villagers was supressed by firing on them and not in air! Nandigram came into the news, as another Jalianwala Bagh!
2) CPI-M demands TMC to be Naxalites and they want to stall the WB-bandwagon for progress! Mamata is depicted as a "bad girl" in the block, who is acts like a demon, eating up Bengal's development!

Enough! Its Enough!! Lets see what 16th May unfolds!

The United Progressive Alliance: A Review.

All over India, various media channels and prints have delivered their news, their way. Many interviews, starting from the college campus to the local trains, Indian media is gearing India up with what the India will be looking towards, being the largest democracy in the World.

2004 to 2009, five years, held at office with few nudges down the lane. The United Progressive Alliance tried what they could do the best. Run a Government, facing the atrocities of both external and internal elements. The seventh largest country in the world saluted a number of "wonders" in political fabricated terms, in these five years, and again, time and again failed to meet them. Now is the time for one of the common man to place his view, for what the UPA has achieved and what it hasn't as according to their common minimum program* (to be referred as CMP herewith). This no televised interview, not is it an edited voice. Its my voices, sounding Cacophonous withing my Canonical Cacophony.
[* CMP was resolved on 22/5/04, published in the website. The verses are subject to change, as after 11/4/09]

Education:

#The Fourteenth Lok Sabha sounded Secular. Congress and associates always are! But one aspect couldnt marr their secularism, but it did tarnish the image of the government. It was not religion related, but it can be termed as political communalism. Racism would be better word to place. In the lights of higher education, Mr. Arjun Singh, passed certain reforms in the seat distribution regarding seat reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBC). The politics of reservation was chalked out to gain into certain localized vote banks for the party. The Report: click here. In 2006, this resulted in a student unrest all over India, maximally hitting the medical institutions and management schools. Thousands of students fell upon the decision of lowering seats for the general candidates. Previously many termed general candidates couldnt fill up the many vacant seats, which remained so through out the term, because they lacked proper SC/ST/OBC candiadtes! Amidst the light of such grave truth, the seats were redistrubuted in the name of OBC/SC/ST! It could have been avoided!
#A decision of passing bills and allocating budget for eight new IITs compared to the six till date in Andhra, Punjab, Gujrat, Orissa, MP, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh was a bright step.

MARKS: 6/10

Security:

# The minor back logs shall always be faced by any government and in any country. The UPA, under Dr. Manmohan Singh managed the terrorism with a copper hand. I repeat the term copper hand, bacause it was no way Ironical! Relations with Pakistan on bilateral terms were tried to be made peaceful, and more calm. Kashmir became quiter, atleast better than the Kargil Uprising in 2001. But certain terror strikes in Jaipur, Malegaon, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad and the greatest of all, in Mumbai did tarnish the UPA stand! Mumbai attack did make the UPA face a massive protest from the root level. But following that, the UPA did take a strong stance against Pakistan, tagging it as a "Terror State" in the UNO. Did this create an international pressure on the Zardari government, thanks to the strict policies of the government!

MARKS: 7.5/10

Legislation:

# If the previous Mr. Vajpayee's government gifted the national security with POTA, which is still regarded as an Iron Act by the opposition BJP, amidst the violence in various regions of the nation, the UPA gifted certain acts of transparency, namely Rights to Information Act (RTI) and the National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (NREGA). The former gurantees a transparency of any sector to the consumers and the public, while the latter tries to deliver a 100 days work policy, in a year for the needy!
# The NUKE deal with USA for which UPA had to take a confidence motion in the Parliament, 2008-2009, did see a lot of drama unveil infront of the nation about bribing to buy confidence vote. But they did stand strong and went forward with the deal negotiation that many scientists in the filled believed to be substantially beneficial.

MARKS: 8/10

Economic Policies:

# With award winning Economists in the Cabinet, Dr. Manmohan Singh (Prime Minister) and Dr. P. Chidambaram ( Formerly Finance Minsiter, now Home Minister) along with an experienced colleague, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee (Formerly Defence Minister, now External Affairs Minster) did manage to see the Economic Recession that hit the world by fever in 2008-2009 and till date continuing! With the world economy crumbling, India has seen a GDP growth of 7.1% in the tough times. Even the opposition leader, Mr. L. K. Advani once acknowledged one of the jewels, Mr. Mukherjee, that "What would UPA do without him. When ever India has found herself in danger, he was there as a savior". This was when the last budget was being placed by the UPA. Mr. Mukherjee did the needful as PM had undergone a surgery!

MARKS: 9/10.

I being a common have put forward certain aspect which I think. It has my hues, and may or may notbe in agreement with others!
To me, UPA served the nations well. Well, to make a nation perfect, five years in not enough! Everyone has to change it and be part of the phenomenon of Building India! So if you believe agaisnt certain norms, vote against...or vote for if you feel for the norm. But do Vote! For you can change the fate of the nation!

The Sho(e)man's Show.

After what the Iraqi journalist did to US President G. W. Bush, the man who regretted being remembered as a president who wanted War, it was the Indian counterpart, who protested on a similar line, but the atrocity shown by him was on a more homely basis.
The Supreme Court declared Jagdish Tytler, who was on trial for the past 25 years, after he was accused of being a culprit in the Sikh Unrest in Punjab, way back in 1984. An event or rather say a Massacre resulted after the two body guards of then Prime Minsiter of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, opened fire on her and assassinated her on 31/10/84.
He was a congress man and on the eve of the coming Union Parliament Election, he was presented with a clean chit by the CBI, who was performing the investigation and words spread that he would be competing an election from the Delhi Seat. This had spread unrest in the state of punjab and all over the nation.
It was on 7th April, 2009, Mr. P. Chidambaram, one of the cool headed political leaders and presently the Home Minister of India was in his last ever speech in a press conference, before the Cabinet gets dissolved. One Mr. Jarnail Singh, a political reporter in Dainik Jagaran, a Hindi daily having a huge capital print market in North India.
He asked the Home Minister about his comments on the Tytler's release. The minister shoved his comment off, saying that he wasnt in a position to answer on matters that was being dealt by the Cebtral Bureau of Investigation, CBI. Being an executive member, it is not right to comment on such matters. If they found him guilty, then they have done their job!
Mr. Singh burst out with his shoe in an act of protest to ducking the answer, as he was deeply moved to what happened 25 years back! Our minister was cool as ever and like a civilzed individual asked the securoty to let him out, and not harm him in any manner. Mr. Singh was later realeased after being warned. He admitted in the media that waht he had dopne was in the spurt of the moment and that reporters and journalists should only protest by their pen or camera and not with shoes...

Last time, there were many computer games hitting Bush with a shoe. What will be this time round? I guess Indians in this aspect are much more down to earth rather than hitting PC digitally. They will voice their thumb as and when needed this Lok Sabha Election, 2009.

IPL Edition II

The theme of having an International tournament, year after year with aura and grandeur might turn out to be little tarnished with the Indian Premier League, edition II getting it's pass to host with "pride" on an International Arena. After the recent terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers, the Indian Government were little reluctant to provide full security to the players and the tournament as a whole because, according to certain leaders, "the greatest match for the nation", i.e the general election for the Lok Sabha, 2009 would be taking place, quite precariously coinciding with the IPL matches. The IPL matches were about to begin from April 10th, 2009 while the first date for the Lok Sabha General Election would be taken on 16th April, 2009 where 23% of the nation goes to poll.
The matter is that although the BCCI tried the last thread to keep the tournamnet on home grounds, but due to immense pressure on all fronts, the security couldnt be managed! Heading towards the dateline, the council decided to shift the matches to South Africa, promising a pre-prime time and a prime time broadcast of 4PM and 8PM (IST).
Although the huges financial losses could have been saved, but the dignity of the nation couldnt be saved! How about oprganising the tournament in alternate years, just like the Champion's Trophy and others? An annual extravaganza would soon drop the lustre from the event, although Cricket and Cricketers are next to God in India. Still... more galas like the Olympics could be postponed in the 30s for World Wars, then why not IPL? Atleast, India could save the tournament rights in her own soil!!!

Breaking Time

With the onset of the deadline of having polls within a month from now, the different poltical parties are coming up with various manifestoes. Staying in Bengal, it has always been a very charming experience of witnessing one of the most vibrant battles fought between the communists and the non-communists!

In their 30+ years of existence, the Communsit Government has seldom looked towards making the West Bengal Tourism No.1 in India. No other government in the nation's independent existence has been on the seat for so long, which by itself stands in the Limca Book of World Records as the longest running government, since 1970s. The Trinamool Congress, being the "largest" opposition party in the state has brought oput certain points in their manifesto, which may look to be another over ambitious drive and duty but again very true if ever the government had looked into the matter earlier. M/s Banerjee, the supremo of TMC declared to attempting to create Digha into Goa. There is a very practical blockade in such a proposition based on the beach compsotion of the two sites, but yes, Digha could have been lot better if tried for! The drive to convert Dajeelingh and Mirik into Asia's Switzerland is innovative and could have been a sucess had the government not neglected the demands and welfare of the Gorkhas in the Hills. Afterall Darjeeling is called the Queen of Hills. The conversion of Kolkata to London would have been a bizzare idea, but on the whole, TMC gets a 4/5 from me!

The other aspects amongst many in the 46 page long manifesto is to support and organize a full term secular government in the Center. Better healthcare facilities, water and electricity supplies, etc etc... which are some of the most common false words presented by any political parties. Not going by those standards, and taking into account the development of tourism Industry in Bengal alone pays a hepty promise to the masses. After all Kerala, Tamil Nadu and most recently Madhya Pradesh have all been developing on the natural resources and sight seeing, then why not West Bengal which is the only state that fulfills the defination of India as Asamudra-Himachal, which reportedly means a land with Mountains and Seas. West Bengal is the only state in India that has alink with the Great Himalayas and the Bay of Bengal at the two extremes!

Lets see how much this election makes it possible for millions of hearts. But this election is very crucial on a Bengal perspective because it might show a huge impact to the the 30 years of reign of the Communists in Bengal, who supposedly had taken as the second to none poitical parties in the state!

Faithful.

With the Lok Sabha General Election 2009 is in a month's notice and all the nominations and the publicity being started or completed (in places facing the election on an earlier date), and with the turmoil over the Indian Premier Leagues' security concern after the terror attack in Lahore, the syndrome "being faithful" crops up again in the masses at various sporadic locations.
Starting from the Slums, even after the magnaminous success of their root film, SlumDog Millionaire, the syndrome grapples the citizens of all ages in the location. A few days back, I was passing through such and area and over heard a few people, sipping on their glass of steaming tea, talking about the parties and politics. I stopped by to listen their view, and well... I can confess I had this article in my mind. How can I miss such a lucrative discussion to proove that the syndrome still exists! In the largest democracy people still fall hollow to this kind of syndrome, which I call Faithful syndrome. I heard one of the four people say that he has been supporting Party X since childhood because his dad was an activist and he put forward some "excuses" for following the party! He even boldly said, "I have instructed my son to vote for Mr. Y of X. He needs some guidance, for it's his first time". A throttling of fair democracy starts from home. So what TATA TEA tries to make the Citizens aware of the responsibilities enthrusted on their shoulders, 80% of them shrug that off! Its just another day..where you have to say something for the nation! "Let's Sleep...Or Let's Party with a nice PopCorn and Hrittick giving his famous Wormy steps!" The JAAGORE CAMPAIGN, well you can be part of it. Atleast think to be part of!

Another face of being faithful comes when most of the young generation have lost their interest from voting. They like top lazy around, unaware or even aware that their phantom played by some stronghold party's goon have cast his/her vote in his or her name! They are faithful to their party leaders. That's why even after 10 years of my grand mom's death and also after 3 years of my dad's death and with all the documents being submitted properly, their names are still enrolled in the Voter's List. I is known that if you don't cast your vote for three times ins a row, you name gets cancelled from the register. I understand my dad's scenario, but my gran mother has been around 15 years NOW, (the previous data was duing last poll), which has seen more than three election. Then how come her name still features in the list? God Is Great in creating some very loyal phantoms!
Please think and cast your support... please come to cast them..for you all are grown up now! Please Act Like Them! This is a sensible citizen asking the other citizen's irrespective of thought or party. Come and Support.

Lok Sabha 2009.

Back Lash:

Like the round stature of the Indian Parliament, the celebration is back on it's track, after a whole term of FIVE Years. In 2004, The United Progressive Alliance, briefed as the UPA came into power at the helm of Indian Constituition forming the Cabinet with the able help from other parties in the Alliance. Mr. Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister of the nation, amidst all the speculations of Smt. Sonia Gandhi can take the chair. The speculations were rightly in place, because of a number of scenarios. Mr. Gandhi was the daughter in law of former Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. She was the wife of another IG's son Mr. Rajib Gandhi, who also served the nation as a Prime Minister. Both mother and son were assassinated in what could be called as one of the most tumultous era of Indian Politics. Hence Mrs. Gandhi was a heavy wight candidate. Again, after the Hawala Corruption regarding the BOFOR's Guns, the Congress, which was the Indian Independence Winning Political Party faced barb wires from all fronts, since 1996 Narsima Rao govt. Since then till 2004, BJP and the Left Front have time and again formed the Cabinet. Mr. A.B.Bajpayee had showed the world the Poweress of the Indian mind after creating Pokhran, where two atom bomb experimental explotion was carried out. India faced a huge economic pressure and to those The BJP succumbed! This was capitalized by the Congress and the UPA and they encashed Mrs. Gandhi's debut along with her son Mr. Rahul Gandhi who was portrayed as the new face of the Nation!
The BJP could have encashed on the lines aired all over the nation about not accepting a foreigner as the Prime Minister of the nation. Mrs. Gandhi was indeed an Italian by bith but after being married to Rajib Gandhi, she was solemn Indian, but the BJP sought after the भोला भला Indian to cash the vote।
LOK SABHA 2009:

What will happen? What are the cards to be played?

Till now one thing that has been in the slogan of the opposition, the BJP goes like this:
" BanshYogi vs KarmaYogi "
( Inheritance vs Work-Worthy)
The BJP candidate for PM is Mr. L. K. Advani, who is considered as an Iron Man. He is believed to be work worthy but the UPA as before is presenting Rahul Gandhi as one of the major guns in the election. Sonia Gandhi is also in the fore front. Since thay have a family name, starting from Jawaharlal Nehru, BJP tries to portray that in a democratic nation like India, how can "Imperialism" exist with free mind and breathe!
Interesting fore play, but I guess BJP will have to look somethig really good come up against, for the UPA has many a plus point to defend the Fundamental Principles, which they have fulfilled on many a aspect. They along with many common man knows that the Fundamental Principles are the primary yard stick to analyse a government!

meaningless scraps...

As most people will sucessfully find the answers to criticize as to what I ever utter. But few days ago, a buzz was around in the air that a new project for a chemical factory will be on its way at Nayachar. This will be a chemical hub that has been given a clean chit from the Union Government and an ordinance to install the project at the site is on its way.
But again the people who are concerned regarding the opposition of the CPM lead state governement, said that they are "policy wise" against pollutuion and creating a chemical hub would never the less increase pollution in the said area. It is this opposition, led by the Trinamool Congress have shown their "other" policy that is simply 180' over turned when it comes to the Supreme Court order to convert all the autorickshaws on the roads of Kolkata, into LPG auto's, which if not followed was instructed to be ceised by the authorities. At that point, Miss Banerjee's party supported the auto organisations to go beserk with their agitation leaving the non-lpg auto's on road. These non-LPG autos creates hoards of gaseous pollution and uses spurious oil that increases the risks of cancer and asthama. Then supporting the rights of the non-LPG autos to make business on the roads of Kolkata, then where was the "policy" to act against environmental pollution?
Polticians are hippocrits and that gets proved yet once more!

The Political Mumbo Jumbo...

SUCI, a trade union wing of the Left Front* in India called on a strike or in other words, official bunking of office, in the wake of increased price hike of petrol and LPG. With the international market price going up, the government was induced to create a hike which, in the next few days was scheduled to go down in another small recession with the international market price. The party spokes person cites this as a common man's cause, but as it turns out, this Bandh fails to be a national issue, yet the issue of concern is prevalent issue nation wide. Then what can be the real issue, latent as it seems.
Lets discuss the platform on which this strike may be called on.

* they sometimes, refrain themselves from calling themselves as Leftists!

In West Bengal, the left front government has been in power for more than three decades which is a history by its ow capability. But the occurences in the last two or three years have had changed the scenario drastically. With the prominence of the Singur issue, followed by the Nandigram unrest, over industrialization and the tussle between the government and the opposition, mainly Trinamool Congress, the tables seem to have a much awaited torque. Since 2006, in whatever election that the State has gone through, CPI(M) led Left Front have fallen hollow in the hands of Trinamool, not comprehensively but prominently. So, in the wake of another election, the Lok Sabha, SUCI is judging its maternal party's strenghth in creating a pandemonium in the common man, over issues that has been solved a few days ago. But if you take my word, this has no effect over the common man, because the cars and the buses are on their wheels, rolling out perfectly. May be their numbers prying on the road is less, but they are omnipresent in the city. A blow in the face of the Union? May be they will take the cake with the numbers being less than normal, but being a common man, 22nd January is Bandh day, 23rd January is Netaji's birthday, a holiday in West Bengal, 24th is a Saturday and 25th is a Sunday. To have a cherry as the topping, 26th January is a National holiday on the auspicious occassion of 59th Republic Day. So five days of holidays and halfdays taken as a offday, any one can move outside the city for a small vacation in the suburbs! So, is there any good things to savor about people being less on the roads? I guess not!

Inquilab Zindabad goes off in the air, but with a different meaning. I guess most of the people who are airing this slogan have the guts to come forward and define the emaning of these two words!
