Friends... Friendship...etc...

Mind If I tell you a swine? If you mind, you are not my friend, for my friends know, why I asked you or better say, called you so!

How about getting all the doors locked behind and call upon the hectic schedule... You B**T***D! i guess you can understand what that means?! You are not a mumbo jumbo for not understanding that! Are you?

This is not a day to commemorate the past, for the first Sunday, every August is nothing but a gizmo deviced by the Archies and other card manufacturers to sell their cards! My Airtel already pounced in a sms declaring that the free sms plan will be off today, i.e 2nd August 2009. The simple reason, it's a friendship day! The young generation will ping out the smses: Hi...Happy Friendship Day or it can go like this Dear, wish you a very very very very.... [x million times] Happy Friendship Day! Alternatively, some on like me, can take the opportunity to wish the people in advance:

[dt: 01-08-2009]
Kal hain friendship day,
Aj hain sms free.
Kal nahee!
Iss liye Yara,
Kabul karlo apna yeh paigam..
Din kar diya,
Apne iss dost k naam-
Subh Dosti Din!

Taking the opportunity of sms, within the free window!

But, somewhere, things get missed a lot! Today had a talk with one of the very old friend, way back into the school days. Remembered and cherished those days at tuition, the beloved English tuition and with the occasion of the Pujas nearing every minute, the last minute plans that we had to alter here or there, even though I took all the pain to jot down the whole plan altogether!

Today meetings are vague. Never expected that this can turn out as a fate of such strong bondings that we once shared. Although I know that it all takes a will power to meet, just a step ahead to confirm the meeting, some one has to bell the cat!

I can just provide one such incidence, where I enjoyed with my pals, from my University Days, now trying to establish in respective fields! Just have a look below:

Faster than a second.

July 7th, 2009:

I was walking down the busy streets of Kolkata, rushing through the gloomy weather with hurry on my legs because I was damn late for the office. I had nothing to talk to, nothing to see for, only the second's hand of my TITAN wrist watch, trying to out run it by a second, every second.

But mysteriously, each tick on the second hand took me aback by twenty years, back in my school days. I could visualize flashing red lights. Some sounds tuned into my ears. Seemed like there was an out break of a war, some where I dont even know. But the sounds seemed familiar. I could relate them with me, which is mots surprising. I could see my first ever electronic gift, that my mom presented me when I was a kid of 8 years old.

A tear or two came across the corner of my eyes. I could feel running behind my mom, trying to chase her down with my toy gun. She would run as agile as a deer and I would frequently get upset for not catching upon her with my gun, "trying to save my kingdom" from a demon! Games, that have long lost into the sephia, past and rusted? I guess not, for I felt them very moist round the corners of my eyes.

I suddenly remembered that today my mom has a probable spondilisis developing. I have just bid her a bye, when she was seating at her seat, in the booth trying to safeguard our finances. Today, I do a job and I know that to become completely settled, I need some time more. But the time when my mom should have been resting, she keeps on ticking with her business. The seconds run faster than her and I try to out run each second...

I try to out run each second... try to catch the metro through the tube to my office, still the second runs faster than me and time? ................ away from me.

The Fall of Mighty Australians.

May be our neighboring country paid gratitude to India, for the Indian help during the Prabhakaran Campaign, by dumping Australia out of the T20 World Championship. But the fall would have been well grafted, had Indians delivered the knock out punch, rather than Sangakara, SL.

The reason to say such things is simple. Avenge to what the Australians are doing to the Indian students down under. They deserve no mercy, and have not be spared one! The dogs are better off in the Kennel, Down Under!

Happy Storm.

Never ever had I felt so happy seeing the welkin gloom with gray. Never have I felt the necessity of welcoming a storm in my life. But again, certain things happen in your life unexpectedly. The place from where I hail, called Kolkata is in the province of West Bengal, India. The annual saga involving the inhabitants with one of the most unpredictable, yet devastating storm of nature, created due to the sudden gush of the North-Westerlies over the Gangetic plains of North India to the Bay of Bengal, creating a cyclonic development. The locals, in Bengali call it Kaal-Baishakhi, meaning the ill-omen in the month of Baishak [Click here for details].

But after the long hot spell in half a century, with the mercury kissing the 43'C mark each and every day for the past two and a half weeks in the city. [Click here for details] A temperature that was 5-6'C above normal, made each and everyone's heart wish for the storm to come and relieve them. It came and relieved all the inhabitants, down the Gangetic Delta of South Bengal in a jiffy. The storm lasted for 25 minutes on a rough with slight to heavy rainfall that was re-installed in the late evening. It brought the temperature down by 18 points. My recent Google Weather update mentions the present temperature in and around Kolkata is 22'C.

I enjoyed soaking my dried soul in the first ever heavy rain of the year, 2009, here in Kolkata. The actual season is still a month and a half away, but this juice was enough for the upcoming sultry season in May-early June! Some things that is worth sharing:

" Down the brows,
Rolls the water so pure,
A life saver for sure.
Love You thy Rain,
Like never before..
Quench us from the pains,
Flushing them down the drains.
Bring relieve to the masses,
We give thy million kisses,
Deancing in the Rain.
Dancing without pain. "

A Message To all Indians:: Time to Think.

It is very easy to shout against the leaders, who have resulted the death of hundreds of soldiers cross border or in our heartland, in Mumbai. If you feel for those warrior's blood, then why not save them from the whims of the men at the top, but choosing the WHIMLESS... It is you, who pointed the finger to Mr. Achutanandan! Finding the name familiar. It is that same CM who soured our thoughts by calling a Martyr's death worthy of a dog's sacrifice!!! You did burst out then, what happened now?

When Kolkata Votes, I will Vote on 13/5/09.
When your locality Votes, answer the call... Justify those thousands of bullets, where names of many Brigadiers, Captains, Subedars, Sepoys lie carved in blood.
Answer yourself... Are You doing it right by sitting back?
Answer by looking into your mother's eyes... are you doing her Justice, when thousands like her lose people like you because of faulty leadership?
If you think what will your one vote do...then re think again! Drop by Drop, water adds to make the Ganges...similarly, if 40,000 people think like you are doing individually, it is taking 40,000 votes out of the system. A close election where 20,000 mattered, might not have mattered, if like 40,000 others had voted!!!

Please my fellow mates..come up with this one chance. The next two election dates, make it 90% Votes...if not 100%. My words are limited to the cyber world to people whom I don't know. But if you can feel my wish and my feelings, then spread it to people who are out of the reach of this article!!!

One might think why am I writing so. I am a common Indian like you. I dream like you. On certain aspects I think like you, other times differently. I am making you think differently.

My Shadow...

Interesting.
I am posting something after a really long time, after my standard of almost regularly updating. I admit that for the past few days I have been really busy with a lot of applications and other stuff! More over, for the past two days I havent been online from home, coz my computer's SMP blew off!!! (not literally)
But agains, certain things happen for your own betterment. Ask why?
The two day's forced exile from the cyber world let me fall back on certain tools of entertainment and murdering tools to kill time. My article diaries, the last article I wrote was in Novermber 2004. About five years old! I read to some of those un kempt articles that came out from my figments of imagination! Those were my Presidays... a time when everything was vibrantly changing it's meaning and colours!
Then I came across the testimonials that my Presi mates hav so carefully compiled for me. I revisited my past... the way I was and today the more composed individual that I am! Khotu (Kasturi), Pagli (Sayantani), Giggs (Charmi), Black Beauty (Sunandini), Chari (Sanchari), Suku (Sukesh)... they all wrote many pieces of incidents and good verses to let me rethink being a better human being! A less Chap-taking individual and less Angry man! Today I look back those roots!

Some excerpts:
Khotu: " SOB SOB SOB It was Saturday in the month of December. It was the first movie we saw together. it was KAL HO NA HO. Thanks for making us watch it Somnath. (Bengali) You cried so much during the movie. ... I had always thought that it was totally unmasculine and unchivalrous for a guy to cry, but seeing you that day... I changed my opinion and realised Crying is only an Outlet of your Supressed feelings..."

Pagli: " (Bengali) ... Amrita and myself boarded down at Cetral Metro. I was confident to get back to college, for it was a challenge that I, although knew less of the streets at this place can make it without you. But we didnt. We went the opposite way and realised the mistake, just to take a U turn and get back on the right track! Felt dejected! Felt angry! Hence smsed you, telling that it might be little tough, but we can make it. We made it! Then you were busy teaching, but when you came free, you rang up! I expected that you will be angry with such an sms! Instead you laughed! I could have been more angry with the humiliation, when you said something that made me realise that a true Teacher at heart can and only can he mention such: "First time it happens like that! A few days you be with me, walk around and not ride your car, you will learn each and every nook of the city! Thats a promise. May be this is a real teacher...in truest sense!"

Giggs: " We ( I mean u and me), get hurt easilyby other peoples' behaviour and have been victim by ourselves... do u know, I believe we shoudl care for ones who care for you...I do do, and would advise you to do so! This will help misunderstanding others a little less! Talking of misunderstanding, I remembered one more good quality in you! When ever you had a problem with anyone, you came forward in clearing it with that person face to face! Rarely does anyone have courage to do it!"

Black Beauty: " U know what Somnath, u are a really good and true person. But you forget the basic rules at times. I kow that you never mean to hurt anyone, but it is necessary to be conscious of your act, as the person who is getting hurt is your friend nah?!! So be cautious next time. You might get better friends, but you might not get a second chance later!

Chari: " Another thing - it is good to care about people, butmake sure you donot become a laughing stalk of the people. You really donot deserve that. You have a lot to give but dont squander it away on people who are unworthy or who find it un -necessary. You have a lot, doesnt necessarily mean that you wast all those away!

Suku: " 1) Please dont take un-necessary responsibilities. It will destroy you and your feelings... whu are you doing this?
6) Sometimes you want to move before time. Please dont do this!!!"

I dont know why I wrote these... but I think, these small words have been my shadow, and its always good to appreciate shadows for without them, your visibility is incomplete!

Getting Entangled.

Its always very interesting to watch people around you, something many people boast of achieving a tough task easily, i.e reading faces or face reading. But how about listening to what the emotions say, and act accordingly or prevent thinking with a pipe vision. My friend J along with B came along near my place with lot of expectations have a small अड्डा while they would be completing their much prejudiced work! I was on my way, when one of their mobiles started to knock my caller tune. It was B, with a news. The National Eligibility Test (NET) have been published a moment ago and that B has achieved his goal, but our beloved J couldn't. The previous hour, I had a small talk with J as to where were they and when would I avail my self. He was totally excited, magnanimous to amount (if any Scale can measure it) for we were meeting after a couple of weeks gap!
When I reached the place, that magnanimosity had disappeared. There was a tone of dejection in his voice and although B had succeeded, we just couldn't manage to give him a warm hug and congratulate, for the interlinked feeling was too strong in our friend circle. Other days, I would have easily named my friends, but today i decided to conceal them. Even if you can understand whom I am talking about, please refrain yourself from naming them. Its another entangle that we all get in, everyday, minute and second. Hard life..Hard ways!

Simple... I am Happy....

We all try to find out the trick to be happy. Well, "Its simple to be happy, but very difficult to be simple." Today while coming back from my student's house, I looked at an incidence that knocked my realization of what is simple? Simplicity in Character? Or there is something more in it? A family, looked to be below average waged people, husband-wife, three daughters, almost of same age, not more than five years boarded the bus. They took the seat just before mine. Luckily I had my headphones off, for I would then have been very unlucky to miss this. The man was remorsing about his bad health but again the fact that he has to get back to the building site the next day, which he was not feeling like looking at his health. His wife with caring smile asked him to take a day off, but he said that he cant afford or else his daily wage would be deducted! (They needed money, was what the eyes said.)
In the mean time, the youngest sister burst the balloon that she was carrying. She started crying, and immediately the attention focused back onto her. All the wrinkles on the man's face, all the materialistic words that came out from his lips and heart and ailing body turned into a "unscripted" rhythm, "oooliiee ulluuuu baba...shona..na na...chuk chuk..." and the crying princess after two minutes started to laugh with her under developed teeth, just looking at her dad's face and hearing a very familiar dialect, which she could understand. The man's face took the most beautiful turn around, and all his wrinkles concentrated at the corner of his lips with a giggle, for his princess was smiling. He seemed happy...may be a happiness that is past all materialism...
May be being simple means something more than character, thoughts, etc. You all may disagree to my terms, but again what counts is that those unscripted words in an unmaterialistic manner means more than they expresses to us.
We run too fast, in the race to out-run our souls. Is that possible? Now that's the pertaining question! I am thinking... are you?

Valentine's Day.

Every day I longed for You. Everyday I stood on the pavement, waiting to see thy smile. Every day I toiled the roads back and forth in the wait to see You, even for a second. You would come, smile, hold thy hands and have few sweet words for ourselves before we left for our present residence... The how does this 14th February feel so differednt that I should be termed as Valentine's Day? The day of Lovers? Well that was the answer that I tried to figure out. It can be framed in a very short and precise manner: "It never felt very diffeent, unless the inductive effect of vision seeing people around hand in hand, at a much more frequent pace, and places unexpected... did made me feel for your hands... your touch... your warmth!" Now that was what that stood ज़रा हटके !!! It felt really great when even for an Hour I did find you, there standing for me all the way long!

Helloz...

My first post in the Year 2008. Since the last post a number of incidents rocked the world news. One of the most shocking being the assasination of Benazir Bhutto, the two time former prime minister of Pakistan, in the wake of another well contested elections in Pakistan.

Today India doomed in the second straight victory against Australia Down Under. But one thing I must point out, India played against 14 players in the opposition... the three more were the Umpires.

Anyways, lets start the posts with some good aspects. As life is smiling, the mood swing came after a long long time. Yesterday night I some how felt very down. Dont know the actual reason which is again the typical casology with me. But since Life has been smiling since Last August 2007, this was a long time down the line, almost 5 months that I felt so so down. The year started with the examination, but in the season window to eourselves, this I would say was not very very welcomed!

To end this small note, I would like to dedicate some words to my Life:

" Missing you is not just a habit, its feeling undefined. Without You the life seems so dark and vacuum, and with you, everything smells spring fresh... even if its Dry Winter. "
