हैप्पी होली...

तुझसे नाराज़ नही जीन्देगी...
हैन्रण हूँ मैं...
ऊऊ
हैरान हूँ मैं...

The season of Holi comes, and goes away in a jiffy. Like whole India, Calcutta celebrated the colourful with colour. But what makes me very awed, is to the fact that the theme of Holi or Dol (as its known in these parts of the country), is not celebrated in the spirit that we used to do, some 14-15 years ago. Today everyone is so so busy that the time to spend, halting in the fast pace of life, to take a touch of the colour on their fore head even. This changes can be seen in some of the children where thay are busy with their computer games. One of my student, well... he just was safe playing Wolverstien in his play station. The graphics are much more "beautiful" to him than the colours of human hands and smiles!!

This makes me bewildered and sad....

इस्स्लिये...
तुझसे नाराज़ नही जिन्दगी...
हैन्रण हूँ मैं....
है रान हूँ मैं...

When Spring Scampers away...

The natural cycle keeps on repeating its course without flaw. Its flawless. With the last winter seemed quited prolonged, creeping into spring's territory, Spring in Calcutta/Kolkata seemed little cooler than last few years. Although the natural cycle maintained its course, it had a minor difference in thy life. This year Spring to me was more pink than it had been ever. The smile kept its promise to life.
Few days ago, while loitering on the streets of Calcutta, the palash (in bengali) came to thy eye sight. requested by one of my batchmate, I took some pictures. They seemed so glowy inspite the fact that the evening light fainted away. When I looked upon them, they seemed so brave... overlooking the fact that their time of existence was short spanned and will be over in a couple of days or weeks at the most. Thats because Spring is scampering away to make way for the drenching summer. It did feel ackward that such a beauty would be temporary and is about to fade away soon, but the new hope for a winning run in the rat race of social life amidst the summer scorcher seemed quite relieving.

Lets Smile....

FCUK!!!

After the ommission of Sourav Ganguly (The second Highest ODI Run getter of the preceeding edition of ICC Cricket Year) and Rahul Dravid from the CB-Series of Australian Tour, the speculations all pointed against MS Dhoni, the new Daredevil of the Block! After Sourav Ganguly (2000-2006), he seemed promising captain with the "right" body language that a captain should have. He proved his mettle witha a vey young brigade in the T20 World Cup edition in SA, in late 2007. (ref: http://somnath-is-here.blogspot.com/2007/09/mission-south-africa.html)
This time round, following such an Ommisive scenario, and then a straight defeat in the hands of the Host and World Champion Aussies..making some horrendous dicision like playing Tiwari who had just arrived in Australia 36hours from the game. Then the man back fired along with the Team India, the MEN IN BLUE. Making the Final, best of Three clash with the Host and the World Champions, Australia, India won all the two finals out of three to be played to wrap up the series. This is India's long awaited win and conquest on the Australian soil after 23 long years, when last time the The Then World Champions ('83) won the BENSON AND HEDGES WORLD SERIES in Australia, in 1985.
Chak De India!!!

The Captain: MS DHONI.

Super Sunday, 2nd March, 2008.

With The India Seniors winning the first final in Sydney, with the Master Blaster completing his 42nd ODI hundred and the First ever on the Australian soil, it was a day to be remembered in Kuala Lumpur, where for the second time after 2000 did India U19 team win the ICC Under 19 World Cup cricket. They beat the Proteas under 19 by 12 runs in the rain shortened D/L method match up.

After the dismay in the 2007 World Cup, where the India seniors failed to even cross over the group stages, the T20 World Cup brought some smile. To add to the joyce, U19 WC win would be another topping in the icing!
Its all heartiest Congrats to the Boyz. Its party Times!!!
LET THE GAME WIN....

Indian Summer of '08 Down Under...

We all have the notion, India vs Pakistan being the Arch Rivals in any game... most proficiently in Hockey and Cricket. But the notion is changing in the field of cricket, rather say its widening it's frontiers with Aussies coming into the picture as bitter rivals for India, or as per the Aussies would put forward, vice versa.

Summer of 2008, down Under started with Indian defeat in two consecutive Tests, with the SCG, Sydney being a pin point and the Highlighted tour astringent. The Symonds-Bhajji brawl over the Monkey Bizz!!!

2nd March, the Finals of the Tour Starts with India and Australia fight at the helm for the CB SERIES trophy. All the Best for Dhoni and Co.

The more convincing news is from Kuala Lumpur, where India U19 team faces the South Afica U19 for the U19 World Cup, 2008 edition. Its the Final and If India wins, it will be after 2000, that India wins. The last time Arch Rival Pakistan defeated India in the Finale, but this time, Pakistan will be missed as they got knocked off by South Africans in the Rain washed D/L match, in the Semis. India advanced the Finals defeating NZ. Best of Luck to Them also!
