Unmitigable Vex.

2006, The TATA group of Industries tried to change the Face of Bengal by dreaming an history that would be pioneering step in the history of Automobiles, a history that would show the world the place of India in the science of Automobile Industries. The endurance plan was sketched, and the chassis was planned out.
Land was acquired (legally and Illegally) in Singur, district Hugli, West Bengal, India. The phantom of pining industrial growth in West Bengal since the mid-seventies was rejuvinating with the newest hope to be on the fore front. A step forward, with the perfect home run in the history books.
2006, somewhere in the State lurked the idea of Political Boon, taking advantage of which, the protest against the governments unlawful means to acquire the land, lands which were more than fertile... yielding fout to five cycles of crop annually, 1000 acres in area. Many farmers were un willing, and the government goons made the needful, some were there with will. Many news came... many people vaporized, as the Singur triangle became thicker and malicious with time. All the time, TATA manages for the designs of Nano, and on an auspicious day in 2007, the model...cute and sweet came into the platform at an Auto expo. Priced at INR 1,00,000 (hundred thousand), without tax, the car was more than economical... dream fulfiller as well as handy! And with the assurance of TATA, well, its more than Trust!
2007, the State faced the turmoil of Nandigram. Chaos was seen to hit in the intellect capital of India. Once it was said: "What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tommorow!" A pride for all bengalis. Today, for a cause, in 2008, the project Singur goes to the live wire, where Miss. Banerjee is standing at a juncture of no return. The advancements of the region bays, but she refuses to bask in the prospectives. What they are?
1) The industrialization brings forth the general welfare of the region, bringing in maintainence of roads and housings.
2) Industrialization would bring in both foreign as well as national money into the state, through the people in and around Singur.
3) The small housings that would develop in and around the region would canter the needs of health and education, responding to which well maintained hospitals and schools would creep up! At least one of each kind.
4) Employment both in kind and cause would sketch a solution for the unemployment in one of the densely populated states of Indian Union. Employment like guards, drivers, small mechanics, housing and household chore managers, maids, canteen workers, shopkeepers and many more...
These prospectives waver in the pandemonium residing at the place. The image of the state gets tarnished day by day and Miss Banerjee stands out as a luddite in the face of social prosperity! Sorry to say, but I once supported the cause at Nandigram...and partially Singur, both carried out by the Trinamul Congress and Miss Banerjee. But I am sad to see the outcome, which we the commoner can see, but a seasoned politician...people who serve the masses, fail to see. Miss Banerjee should sit for talks with the government and negotiate with the prices, as thopse 400 acres of land for which she is jumping around is not only useless, but seems baseless, as she cannot come up with the names of the unwilling farmers, who want their land back! The land is salinated due to construction sand and also rendered infertile due to concrete and other architectural materials. Its useless to win that back. Rather negotiate with the government and the TATAs for better future, a consolidated future for the farmers (whose cause the Lady is supposedly fighting for).
ASK FOR:
* Guranteed employement at the Plant.
* Some kind of Loyalty for the leased out land to the farmer's family.

Its useless to block the NH 32, or The Durgapur Expressway. Since 24th August the agitation is continuing, and today its the 7th day! The trapped trucks, amenities, and many edible and degradable amenities, medicines have all gone a waste!

Please Miss Banerjee listen to the Youth of Bengal... Please don't endanger our future!

d onus is on d govt 2 work out a gooooooood compensation 4 d farmers
let us not assume oppositio is playing spoilsport 2 industrialisation coz jindal project has been accepted by all sections and parties.but d same cpm has been opposing similar projects in states like orissa and 1 day wen budhadeb becums bored of dis cat and mouse game of industries maybe d party will go back 2 its slogan of no industries

  2. somnathda, debaleena here...well...blocking highways , organising state-crippling bandhs and carrying out dharnas and rallies every other day has become the norm of bengal's political parties for reasons ranging from trivial to the important. the singur issue was definitely botched up by the goverment in the begining and as a result opposition parties have been able to cash on the discontent of those farmers who have lost their land.now..in my opinion every new step taken towards change cannot possibly please everybody..we have to asses to risk - benefit ratio..in this case opening a factory in industry starved bengal would definitely herald a positive change in investors attitude towards bengal.the ultimate fact remains that today development and prosperity are synonymous with industrialisation...the ethical issues concerning building industries on farmland will remain..but well..the youth today aim to be employed in industries, not as farmers(mostly)..and it is only a small share of landowners who are resentful..many are reaping the benefits of selling off their land..today the telegraph today carried an article of trinamul workers working as land-dealors..hypocritical?oh well...the question now is..if a reputed company like tata who unlike ambanis or jindals have always been associated with social welfare are made to move out incurring huge losses..who is the ultimate loser?the farmers will get back fallowed land ..and once again bengal's image tarnished as an investors nightmare...the goverment is definitely at fault by taking things for granted from the start but at this point..we have to think whether that retribution will ultimately doom our future or not..

  3. another point : miss mamata banerjee is making several daily wage owners lose their daily money by continuing her "protest"...and everybody is clamouring for the few farmers who had to give up land against their will...but not of people who are now working to build up the factory ..who were jobless few months back..as i said..change will not please everyone..but at this point i definitely feel that we should protet against mamata banerjee's continuing siege..and direct talks three part talks between aggrieved farmers, the tatas and the goverment should be held..and i do have problems thinking about factories devouring farmland one after another but this project has started and the benefits are coming to light..sudden shutdown will be totally face losing..and umm...should there be another siege by people working in the factory(also youths from singur)to protest against shutdown..??but yes, what is really sad is that both the goverment and opposition are too much involved in propagating their agenda to solve the problem..miss bannerjee's refusal to talk and our c.m.'s half hearted involvement by writing letters to the opposition..if the farmers are properly compensated..this ringmarole would end..hopefully..but would that happen?can't say..
