The United Progressive Alliance: A Review.

All over India, various media channels and prints have delivered their news, their way. Many interviews, starting from the college campus to the local trains, Indian media is gearing India up with what the India will be looking towards, being the largest democracy in the World.

2004 to 2009, five years, held at office with few nudges down the lane. The United Progressive Alliance tried what they could do the best. Run a Government, facing the atrocities of both external and internal elements. The seventh largest country in the world saluted a number of "wonders" in political fabricated terms, in these five years, and again, time and again failed to meet them. Now is the time for one of the common man to place his view, for what the UPA has achieved and what it hasn't as according to their common minimum program* (to be referred as CMP herewith). This no televised interview, not is it an edited voice. Its my voices, sounding Cacophonous withing my Canonical Cacophony.
[* CMP was resolved on 22/5/04, published in the website. The verses are subject to change, as after 11/4/09]

Education:

#The Fourteenth Lok Sabha sounded Secular. Congress and associates always are! But one aspect couldnt marr their secularism, but it did tarnish the image of the government. It was not religion related, but it can be termed as political communalism. Racism would be better word to place. In the lights of higher education, Mr. Arjun Singh, passed certain reforms in the seat distribution regarding seat reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBC). The politics of reservation was chalked out to gain into certain localized vote banks for the party. The Report: click here. In 2006, this resulted in a student unrest all over India, maximally hitting the medical institutions and management schools. Thousands of students fell upon the decision of lowering seats for the general candidates. Previously many termed general candidates couldnt fill up the many vacant seats, which remained so through out the term, because they lacked proper SC/ST/OBC candiadtes! Amidst the light of such grave truth, the seats were redistrubuted in the name of OBC/SC/ST! It could have been avoided!
#A decision of passing bills and allocating budget for eight new IITs compared to the six till date in Andhra, Punjab, Gujrat, Orissa, MP, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh was a bright step.

Security:

# The minor back logs shall always be faced by any government and in any country. The UPA, under Dr. Manmohan Singh managed the terrorism with a copper hand. I repeat the term copper hand, bacause it was no way Ironical! Relations with Pakistan on bilateral terms were tried to be made peaceful, and more calm. Kashmir became quiter, atleast better than the Kargil Uprising in 2001. But certain terror strikes in Jaipur, Malegaon, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad and the greatest of all, in Mumbai did tarnish the UPA stand! Mumbai attack did make the UPA face a massive protest from the root level. But following that, the UPA did take a strong stance against Pakistan, tagging it as a "Terror State" in the UNO. Did this create an international pressure on the Zardari government, thanks to the strict policies of the government!

Legislation:

# If the previous Mr. Vajpayee's government gifted the national security with POTA, which is still regarded as an Iron Act by the opposition BJP, amidst the violence in various regions of the nation, the UPA gifted certain acts of transparency, namely Rights to Information Act (RTI) and the National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (NREGA). The former gurantees a transparency of any sector to the consumers and the public, while the latter tries to deliver a 100 days work policy, in a year for the needy!
# The NUKE deal with USA for which UPA had to take a confidence motion in the Parliament, 2008-2009, did see a lot of drama unveil infront of the nation about bribing to buy confidence vote. But they did stand strong and went forward with the deal negotiation that many scientists in the filled believed to be substantially beneficial.

Economic Policies:

# With award winning Economists in the Cabinet, Dr. Manmohan Singh (Prime Minister) and Dr. P. Chidambaram ( Formerly Finance Minsiter, now Home Minister) along with an experienced colleague, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee (Formerly Defence Minister, now External Affairs Minster) did manage to see the Economic Recession that hit the world by fever in 2008-2009 and till date continuing! With the world economy crumbling, India has seen a GDP growth of 7.1% in the tough times. Even the opposition leader, Mr. L. K. Advani once acknowledged one of the jewels, Mr. Mukherjee, that "What would UPA do without him. When ever India has found herself in danger, he was there as a savior". This was when the last budget was being placed by the UPA. Mr. Mukherjee did the needful as PM had undergone a surgery!

MARKS: 9/10.

I being a common have put forward certain aspect which I think. It has my hues, and may or may notbe in agreement with others!
To me, UPA served the nations well. Well, to make a nation perfect, five years in not enough! Everyone has to change it and be part of the phenomenon of Building India! So if you believe agaisnt certain norms, vote against...or vote for if you feel for the norm. But do Vote! For you can change the fate of the nation!
